It was a twist of the knife with a turn of phrase
There was blood on the sheets in this lover’s maze
It ripped right through my mind it shot straight through my heart
That breach of trust that tore us apart
Then a new year dawns so harsh and bright
And that night that went wrong will never be right

But love will steal that which you withhold
